Technology Consulting

Senior-led technology consulting across strategy, architecture, cloud, data and security — turning complex technical decisions into a roadmap your board and your engineers both trust.

Overview

Most technology problems are not really technology problems. They are decisions made under pressure, architectures that calcified as the business changed, and roadmaps disconnected from commercial reality. Cadre brings in consultants who have run engineering and architecture at scale, so the advice you get is grounded in what actually ships — not slideware.

We work alongside your CTO, engineering leaders and product teams to assess where you are, agree where you need to be, and produce a costed, sequenced plan to get there. That spans target-state architecture, cloud and data strategy, build-versus-buy decisions, security posture, and the operating model that keeps it all moving once we hand over.

Engagements are deliberately short and outcome-led. You get a clear point of view, the trade-offs spelled out in plain English, and artefacts your team can act on the day we leave — not a dependency on us. Where delivery capacity is the constraint, our Talent Solutions and Digital Transformation practices pick up seamlessly from the same plan.

Outcomes you can expect

  • A roadmap your board approves and your engineers believe in
  • Lower cloud run-rate and a clear handle on technical debt
  • Faster, better-evidenced architecture and vendor decisions
  • A security and resilience posture matched to your risk appetite

What's included

Capabilities in this practice

Align technology strategy, architecture and investment with measurable business outcomes.

  • Technology strategy & roadmaps

A prioritised, costed roadmap tied to commercial KPIs and board-level objectives, with clear sequencing and dependencies.

  • Architecture & platform review

Pragmatic assessment of your current architecture, scalability limits and technical debt, with a defensible target-state design.

  • Cloud strategy & cost optimisation

Cloud adoption, multi-cloud and landing-zone strategy, plus FinOps practices that bring run-rate spend under control.

  • Data & AI strategy

A clear path from raw data to decisions: data platform design, governance, and where machine learning genuinely earns its place.

  • Security & resilience posture

Threat modelling, identity and access design, and resilience reviews mapped to recognised frameworks and your risk appetite.

  • Build-vs-buy & vendor selection

Objective evaluation of platforms and suppliers, total-cost-of-ownership modelling, and negotiation support.

  • Engineering operating model

Team topologies, governance and delivery metrics that let engineering scale without losing velocity or quality.

How we work

A typical engagement

A clear, low-risk path from first conversation to a result you own.

  1. 1

    Discover

A focused discovery phase — interviews, architecture review and data analysis — to map your current state, constraints and the outcomes that matter to the business.

  2. 2

    Diagnose

We pressure-test what we have found, quantify the gaps and risks, and align stakeholders on a shared, evidence-based view of the problem.

  3. 3

    Recommend

You receive a costed, sequenced roadmap with target-state architecture, trade-offs made explicit, and quick wins separated from the longer-term programme.

  4. 4

    Enable

We help you stand up the first increment and transfer ownership — with optional delivery support through our transformation and talent practices.

Talent Solutions + Technology Consulting

Scaling a regulated payments platform without slowing delivery

Challenge
A high-growth payments company had outgrown its monolith and its hiring pipeline. Releases were slow and risky, a critical Staff Engineer role had been open for four months, and an upcoming regulatory deadline left no room for a long search or a multi-quarter re-platforming bet.
Approach
We ran a two-week architecture review to agree a pragmatic, incremental path off the monolith, then placed a pre-vetted Staff Engineer and a Platform Lead within twelve days to drive it. The architecture roadmap and the talent plan were built from the same diagnosis, so the new hires arrived aligned to a plan rather than inventing one.
Result
The first decomposed service shipped to production inside the first phase, the regulatory deadline was met comfortably, and deployment frequency roughly tripled over the engagement as the new platform pattern spread across teams.
